David Cameron starts his own inquisition against magic

Watcher of the Dawn

If UK Prime minister David Cameron gets his way, esoteric sites such as this one will be banned in the UK.

In a move not seen since the repeal of the Witchcraft Act, Cameron wants his “porn filter” tuned to delete “esoteric interests.”

The discovery that occultism was on the list of filtered content was found using an a freedom of information request.  It is not as if David was prepared to tell people who did not look first.

It is not clear what Cameron has against the occult, maybe the thought of people dancing naked in the New Forrest brings him out in a cold sweat.   But occultists, witches and druids, can be reassured that their religion, beliefs and philosophises will be purged from the British web in order to “protect children”.

The man who cares about his own child enough to leave her in a pub because they…

1. Propaganda Techniques

Metacognition: We need to be mindful of how we think as well as what we think.

While the term propaganda has acquired a strongly negative connotation by association with its most manipulative and jingoistic examples (e.g. Nazi propaganda used to justify the Holocaust), propaganda in its original sense was neutral, and could refer to uses that were generally benign or innocuous, such as public health recommendations, signs encouraging citizens to participate in a census or election, or messages encouraging people to report crimes to law agencies, amongst others.

So the exact definition of propaganda is constantly debated, and no specific definition is completely agreed. Some argue that any persuasive communication is propaganda, whilst others hold that propaganda specifically alters political opinions. However, it is doubtless that propaganda is material which is meant to manipulate or change public opinion, and though it may vary in form and technique, it always…

I`ve never been to West Brom

Sociology at its best, from The Plastic Hippo. ;)

The Plastic Hippo

One of the most endearing qualities of people in the West Midlands and the Black Country is their unselfconscious sense of geography and the pride of identity defined by place.

No artificial gerrymandered lines on a map imposing parliamentary constituencies or council wards can divide communities into north or south or east or west or even central. Far from being a vast, sprawling conurbation with Birmingham at the centre, this part of the world is covered with thousands of distinct villages. The good people of, say, Willenhall will bristle if described as being a native of Walsall or Wolverhampton. There persists a good-natured rivalry between the inhabitants of Upper Gornal and Lower Gornal and the folks of Sutton Coldfield will choke on their G and T`s if you dare to suggest that they are, in fact, Brummies. Even within established towns and cities, territorial identity prevails. Divided only by the…
